PHOTO GALLERY: Cleveland Indians win on second straight Tyler Naquin walk-off
Tyler Naquin hit a walkoff inside-the-park home run – his second straight game-winning RBI – as the Indians beat the Jays, 3-2 in front of 30,665 fans at Progressive Field. The Indians lead the American League Central by seven games, as Detroit lost to Boston.
Naquin’s walkoff inside-the-parker was the second in club history, with the other coming in 1916 – by Braggo Roth at Dunn Field (later named League Park). Naquin’s sac fly in the ninth on Thursday night scored Abraham Almonte to beat the White Sox. The Indians have seven walk-off wins this season.
Trevor Bauer struck out a career-high 13 batters, the seventh time he’s struck out 10 or more batters in his career.
Russell Martin hit a two-run homer in the first — after which Bauer allowed only three singles and a walk — to stake the Jays to the lead.
The Tribe rallied in the sixth, as Jason Kipnis singled, moved up on a passed ball and error, and scored on Mike Napoli’s RBI single that cut the lead in half.
