Cleveland Indians mourn passing of longtime Premium Seating employee Matt Karlovic

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Matt Karlovic.  Matt constantly brought a smile to the faces of all at Progressive Field, and has provided service to our fans through his role as an elevator operator in Premium Seating since 1996.  Matt passed away on Tuesday, April 26 after a long illness.  Matt’s father, Frank also works in Premium Seating.

Matthew David Karlovic passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on April 26, 2016, after a long illness.

Matthew made his home with devoted parents, Patricia and Frank Karlovic Sr.

Matthew was a graduate of Lakeview High School. Matthew was employed for 21 years by the Cleveland Indians Progressive Field in Cleveland and Leada Northeast in Warren.

Among his many awards he received the local, state and international “Yes I Can Award,” sponsored by the Foundation for Exceptional Children. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren and served on many committees.

Matthew’s smile and sense of humor will always be remembered by those who loved him.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his parents; brother Frank Karlovic Jr.; a sister, Krista (Daniel) Whiting; grandmother Annette Karlovic; nieces Katherine, Kloe and Klair; uncles Charlie Karlovic of Vienna, Thomas (Pauli) Karlovic of Mesquite, Nev., and James (Kim) Tutino of Louisville, Ohio; aunts Vincie (Dominic) Greco of Edinburg, Pa. and Jaconda (Dominic) Scola of Struthers; great-uncles William (Freda) Karlovic of Brookfield and John Karlovic of Hubbard; great-aunts Margaret Argiro of Hillsville, and Josephine Commisso of Pittsburgh; a godmother, Ann Casemento of Warren; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Karlovic and Rocco Tutino; grandmother Katherine Tutino; godfather Joseph Casemento; and a cousin, Donnelle Greco.

Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Road, NE in Warren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren, with the Rev. Thomas Eisweirth officiating.

Burial will be at Howland Township Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to the Cleveland Clinic Staff and the staff at Better Living Now for the support they gave him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Matthew D. Karlovic Scholarship Funds to assist persons with special needs.
