The Indians beat up Matt Harvey and hung on for a 7-5 win at Progressive Field on Saturday afternoon.
Harvey carried a perfect game into the fifth inning, but Carlos Santana walked, stole second and scored on Jose Ramirez’s RBI double to center. Juan Uribe followed with an RBI single to give the Tribe the lead.
In the sixth, Jason Kipnis had an RBI double, and Mike Napoli and Yan Gomes had RBI singles. In the seventh, Francisco Lindor added an RBI double and Napoli had another RBI single.
Tribe starter Josh Tomlin allowed just one run in five innings, but left after five with a hamstring cramp.
The Mets scored four runs in the eighth on home runs by Yoenis Cespedes and Neil Walker, but Cody Allen earned a four-out save – his third save of the season — to shut the door.
Corey Kluber takes the hill today in the teams’ series finale; in his last outing on Tuesday in Tampa Bay, he pitched 7.2 innings, allowing three runs.
