Jason Kipnis didn’t get the nod from fans at the 2015 AL All-Star Game despite having the best numbers at his position; he went to the game as a reserve.

He was, however, voted as the second baseman on The Sporting News’ 2015 AL All-Star team, revealed on Wednesday by the publication. What’s more: League executives voted on the award.

Kipnis beat out Houston’s Jose Altuve, Minnesota’s Brian Dozier, Tampa’s Logan Forsythe and Detroit’s Ian Kinsler by batting .303 with 43 doubles (T3 in MLB). He batted .429 in May to win the AL Player of the Month award.

Here’s the entire team:  Michael Brantley also received votes for an outfield spot.
