Cleveland Indians prospects, including Clint Frazier, start Arizona Fall League play Wednesday

The Arizona Fall League (AFL) starts today with several Indians prospects on the roster. Our four pitchers, catcher, and three position players will join the Scottsdale Scorpions, made up of players from other MLB teams’ farm systems.

Our AFL representatives include:

Position players

Clint Frazier, the Tribe’s No. 2 ranked prospect, spent the season at Class A Advanced Lynchburg hitting .285 and recording 143H, 88R, 36 2B, 3 3B, 16HR, 72RBI, 68BB, 15 stolen bases, .377 OBP and.842 OPS. Frazier also took home Player of the Week honors twice in the 2015 season.

Yandy Diaz split time between Triple-A Columbus and Double-A Akron ending the season with a .309 avg., 153H, 62R, 15 2B, 5 3B, 7 HR, 56RBI, 78BB, 8 stolen bases and .403 OBP.

Todd Hankins played with Double-A Akron this season ending with a .261 avg., 116H, 56R, 20 2B, 5 3B, 6 HR, 36 RBI, 31BB and 21 stolen bases.

Indians No. 1 prospect Bradley Zimmer was originally part of the AFL roster until he was sidelined with a hairline fracture in his right foot. Although he is no longer playing in the Fall League, Zimmer is expected to make a full recovery.

Catcher

Jeremy Lucas spent the season at Double-A Akron hitting .239 with 57H, 25R, 11 2B, 2 HR, 22 RBI and 23 BB.

Pitchers

Perci Garner played with Class A Advanced Lynchburg this season going 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 18 games/one start. Garner recorded one save over 30.2IP with 27H, 12R/10ER, 12BB, 33SO and a .239 average against.

Jacob Lee spent the year at Double-A Akron going 5-3 with a 4.19 ERA, over 37 games. He had one save in 62.1IP with 73H, 33R/29ER, 19BB, 48SO and a .294 average against.

Antonio Romero split time between Triple-A Columbus and Class A Advanced Lynchburg. He went 1-1 with a  2.45 ERA, in 28 games/4 starts. Romero recorded 2 saves over 66.0IP with 52H, 19R/18ER, 24BB, 61SO and .220 average against.

Grant Sides spent parts of the season at Double-A Akron and Class A Advanced Lynchburg going 1-4 with a 3.26 ERA in 34 games. Sides recorded 8 saves over 49.2IP allowing 40H, 19R/18ER, 29BB, 48SO and .220 average against.
