Photo Gallery: Cleveland Indians bats break out in win over Brewers, led by Kipnis, Lindor, Brantley

The Indians bats came alive in the opener of a five-game homestand, beating up Milwaukee starter Wily Peralta in an 11-6 win over the Brewers.

The top three hitters in the Tribe order – Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor and Michael Brantley – went a combined 9-for-12 with nine RBI and seven runs. In August, that trio is hitting .377 (75-199) combined.

Carlos Santana had an RBI double and Lonnie Chisenhall an RBI single in the first, while Kipnis and Lindor drove in runs in the second.

Brantley hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Kipnis (RBI single) and Lindor (two-run double) did it again in the sixth. Brantley added another two-run homer in the eighth.

Trends

  • Brantley is the only AL player with 35 or more doubles, 10 or more homers and 70 or more RBI.
  • Kipnis had three hits and leads the American League with 17 games of three or more hits.
  • Lindor is hitting .378 in August and .306 for the season.
