Progressive Field owns the most famous tribute to Jim Thome with his iconic bat pose outside the Right Field Gate. But now there’s a new tribute to the Tribe great, a highway. Yes you read that right, a highway.

Highway HJR0090 as it is now named in Peoria , Ill., will furthermore be called Jim Thome Way. The renaming of this two-mile stretch of road was passed unanimously among lawmakers, only solidifying his legendary place in his hometown and state.

For the litigious among you, more information on the bill can be found here: (http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=90&GAID=13&DocTypeID=HJR&SessionID=88&GA=99)

Thome, who was drafted by the Tribe in 1989 enjoyed a 22-year career, 13 with his original team. The slugger blasted a total of 612 career home runs and was the face of the revitalized team of the 90s. He earned his very own statue outside of Progressive Field on August 2nd of last year.

A statue, a highway, wonder what’s next for Jim Thome?
