#KluberFacts: How dominant Corey Kluber has been for the Cleveland Indians lately

Corey Kluber did another thing on Friday! He allowed just one hit — a solo homer to Joe Mauer in the fourth — as the Indians beat the Twins, 6-1, for their fifth win in six games. Kluber also pitched a complete game on Sunday against the Twins at Progressive Field, allowing just one run and three hits.

Here are some notes from various sources on CK’s dominant season (don’t let the 8-12 record fool you, Kluber has been nearly as good as last season):

  • He’s the first Indians pitcher with back-to-back complete games against the same team since 1994 (Dennis Martinez)
  • He’s the first Indians pitcher with back-to-back complete games since Roberto Hernandez in 2010
  • He’s one of two pitchers in MLB this year to throw consecutive complete games while allowing three hits or fewer in those games — Max Scherzer is the other
  • He has pitched a complete game in three of his last four starts; he allowed just one run in that game as well
  • From Elias: The Indians pitching staff has five one-hitters this season; since 1914, the 1964 Orioles and 1914 White Sox are the only other teams to have five games in which they allowed one or fewer hits
  • Kluber is tied for seventh among all MLB players in Fangraphs’ WAR at 5.3
  • He leads the AL in strikeouts with 193, and is third in MLB

Here’s CK on the victory:
