Cavs center Timofey Mozgov throws the ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday’s game
Cleveland Cavaliers Center Timofey Mozgov made his way across Gateway Plaza Tuesday night to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Progressive Field.
Mozgov, who is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, joined the Cavs in early January and is now their starting center and key member of the team’s playoff chances. Monday’s Indians vs. White Sox game was just the second baseball game that he has attended, and the first time he has thrown out a ceremonial pitch.
“It’s my first one [first pitch] ever,” said Mozgov. “I practiced a little bit upstairs, but they told me it isn’t that bad.”
Mozgov wasn’t bad at all and after his few warmup throws in the Indians batting cages, he threw a perfect changeup to “catcher” Corey Kluber.
Watching from the warning track were Mozgov’s parents, who were in Cleveland to see their family and catch Timo’s last few regular season games at the Q. Tomorrow, the Cavs will take on the Wizards in their final regular season game before making a playoff run.
“Tomorrow will be a good game for us to get some repetition before the playoffs,” Mozgov said. “I think we are ready.”
