#CyKluber countdown: Kluber dominates AL Central rival Detroit in Motown for win No. 10

(Editor’s Note: Leading up to the Nov. 12 announcement of the AL Cy Young Award, we’ll count down Corey Kluber’s 18 wins with a post per day recapping his victories.)

Date/score: July 19, 6-2

Opponent: Detroit Tigers

Pitching line: 8.2 IP, 2 ER, 10 SO, 1 BB

Record: 10-6

2014 strikeout total: 152

Key at-bat(s): Kluber had little trouble with the Tigers on this day, but after the Indians took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fifth, Detroit threatened in the bottom half. Eugenio Suarez walked and Bryan Holaday singled, though a double play erased Holaday. After Austin Jackson’s single scored Suarez to get Detroit on the board, Ian Kinsler – with the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and JD Martinez next – lined out to end the inning.

Notable: Cabrera singled twice and doubled, but Kluber held the Tigers’ Kinsler-Cabrera-Martinez-Martinez quartet to a 3-for-16 showing.

Game score (avg. Game Score, developed by sabermetrician Bill James, is 49-50): 71
