Indians exercise Mike Aviles’ 2015 contract option
The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has exercised the 2015 club option for infielder MIKE AVILES.
Aviles, 33, just completed his second season with Cleveland, hitting .247 (85-344) with 16 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 39 RBI in 113 games. He equaled his career-high and finished third on the club with 14 stolen bases. Over his 88 starts the club compiled a record of 48-40 (.545) as he started games at six different positions (28-3B; 28-2B; 16-LF; 11-SS; 2-RF; 1-CF). The New York, NY native was acquired by Cleveland from Toronto in November of 2012 with C Yan Gomes for RHP Esmil Rogers and was signed to a two-year deal with 2015 club option on February 7, 2013.
