#CyKluber countdown: Kluber strikes out 12 to begin sweep of Rockies for win No. 6

(Editor’s Note: Leading up to the Nov. 12 announcement of the AL Cy Young Award, we’ll count down Corey Kluber’s 18 wins with a post per day recapping his victories.)

Date/score: May 30, 5-2

Opponent: Colorado Rockies

Pitching line: 7.1IP, 1 ER, 12 SO, 1 BB

Record: 6-3

2014 strikeout total: 95

Key at-bat(s): Kluber had allowed a two-run Carlos Gonzalez homer in the fourth that gave the Rockies a 2-1 lead. After striking out the first two batters in the fifth, he allowed back-to-back singles by DJ LeMahieu and Charlie Blackmon. But Kluber struck out Corey Dickerson to strike out the side and keep it 2-1; the Tribe scored four in the bottom half to take the lead and give Kluber the win.

Notable: Kluber had at least one strikeout in each of his seven innings, and struck out the side twice.

Game score (avg. Game Score, developed by sabermetrician Bill James, is 49-50): 74
