8-year-old Stevie Siekaniec steals the show on Tuesday night
Michael Brantley homered and drove in 3 runs and Nick Swisher hit a go-ahead two-run homer.
But Stevie Siekaniec drew a big ovation on Tuesday as well, for this catch:
Stevie, with his dad, Dave, and some friends, made the slick play on a foul ball by Ichiro. When asked what he thought when he saw the ball coming his way, he said, “I was thinking that I was going to catch it.”
The Siekaniecs, from Eastlake, probably had an interesting ride home: Dad said in his 35 years or so of coming to the ballpark – first Cleveland Municipal Stadium, then Jacobs Field and now Progressive Field – he’s never caught one.
Stevie’s had good training, though: He’s a baseball player, and wears No. 41, for Carlos Santana.
