Homestand notes: A fan’s guide to 10 games at Progressive Field, starting July 4

The Indians return home for 10 games, including three games vs. the Royals (July 4-6), four games vs. the Yankees (July 7-10) and three vs. the White Sox (July 11-13). Here’s what’s going on during a VERY busy homestand.

Homestand Heroes: The Indians will dedicate tonight’s game to fallen, current and future military members, along with all branches of the military with a night full of activities, including:

  • TAPS honorees: A family from this organization will be honored before the game (TAPS assists grieving families that have lost members during service)
  • Bob Feller Act of Valor Award: Finalists (including Nick Swisher) will be announced for second annual award; last year’s winners included Yankee HOFer Yogi Berra and Tigers SP Justin Verlander
  • Color guards on hand for national anthem
  • Postgame: Swearing-in ceremony on the field/flag unveil in Upper Reserved

Alumni meet and greets: Joe Azcue (1963-69) and Gary Bell (1958-1967) will meet fans in Rally Alley.

SATURDAY, JULY 5 vs. ROYALS @ 7:05PM

Larry Doby jersey (10,000 fans), courtesy of Sherwin-Williams: On the 67th anniversary of Doby breaking the American League color barrier, 10,000 fans will receive a replica Doby jersey, courtesy of Sherwin-Williams.

Fireworks: Tonight’s fireworks show will be set to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member KISS.

Lonnie Chisenhall 9-RBI game artifacts on display: Items from Lonnie’s historic 9-RBI game in Texas on June 9 will be on display tonight in Heritage Park, in center field, for fans to see. Included are:

  • Bat
  • Third home run ball
  • Batting gloves
  • Cleats
  • Jersey

Terrace Club: The Terrace Club is open to the public in 2014, and fans can make reservations by visiting OpenTable.com and searching for the Terrace Club.

Alumni meet and greets: Joe Azcue (1963-69) and Gary Bell (1958-1967) will meet fans in Rally Alley.

SUNDAY, JULY 6 vs. ROYALS

KeyBank Kids Fun Day: Each remaining Sunday home game (except for Sept. 29) will feature KeyBank Kids Fun Days. Activities include:

  • A new SportsTime Ohio show hosted by Fox Sports Ohio girl Sara and featuring Indians players – show begins around 11:45AM
  • Jungle Terry
  • Kids Clubhouse, featuring the Rookie Suite presented by University Hospitals and Slugger’s Sandlot presented by KeyBank

Kids Run the Bases Presented by Cleveland Clinic Children’s: Young Tribe fans will have the opportunity to run around the bases like their favorite players. All kids (12 & Under) can stay immediately after the game to take part, and will receive a giveaway item from Cleveland Clinic Children’s when they’re finished. (All participants will receive a mesh Frisbee, courtesy of Cleveland Clinic Children’s.)

Mike Hegan tribute: The Indians will honor the team’s late TV/radio personality with a pregame ceremony; Hegan, who worked in TV and radio for the team for 23 years, died in December. His grandchildren will throw out ceremonial first pitches.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 8 vs. YANKEES @ 7:05PM

Jason Kipnis bobblehead, courtesy of FirstEnergy: The All-Star second baseman gets the bobblehead treatment, as his depicts his signature pre-swing stance.

Dream Day Clinic: Members from Our Lady of the Wayside take part in a baseball clinic at Progressive Field.

Derek Jeter presentation: The Indians will honor retiring Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter before the game.
