Sunday recap: Yeah it’s a walk-off!
(Editor’s Note: Anyone who gets the Seinfeld reference in the headline gets a bonus point … Here’s a hint.)
Sunday was a good day. Walk-off. Sweep. Etc. Here are photos — from our photographers Dan Mendlik and David Cleveland — and post-game notes (and video!) from another great day at the ballpark.
THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN: The Indians notched their 4th walk-off win of the season as Michael Bourn connected for a game-winning 2-run shot off Colorado’s Adam Ottavino with one out in the bottom of the 9th…marked the Tribe’s second walk-off home run of the season (Brantley, 5/19 vs. DET) and the 3rd walk-off hit, as the most recent walk-off victory came on Wednesday, May 21 when Detroit’s Al Alburquerque balked with the bases-loaded…marked the 72nd walk-off home run in the history of Progressive Field (1994-present) – the most by an team over that span ahead of Cincinnati (60) and Oakland (57).
- Bourn’s 2-run game-ender marked the first walk-off RBI of his career
- Bourn also walked and scored the Tribe’s first run of the afternoon on Michael Brantley’s RBI-single in the bottom of the first…Bourn saw his 9-game hitting streak come to an end on Monday at Chicago-AL, but has still hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games since May 17 – over that stretch has gone 21-60 (.357) with 3 doubles, 5 RBI and 10 runs scored.
