100-year-old and NYC native Mort Weiss converting to Tribe fan
The Indians had a special visitor at Progressive Field on Friday: 100-year-old Mort Weiss.
Weiss, whose daughter, Bobbie, and son-in-law, Bob Pincus, live on Cleveland’s East Side, recently moved to Cleveland from the New York City area to be closer to his family, grew up in Yonkers and later moved to New Jersey.
Even though he’s Yankees fan – “I never went to the Polo Grounds,” where the Mets used to play, and he grew up “in the days of Gehrig” – Mort’s family is trying to turn him into an Indians fan. He’s been to a handful of games since he moved to Cleveland about 18 months ago.
His daughter, meanwhile, should be on a Positively Cleveland tourism video: “It’s an incredible city.”
We agree, Bobbie. We agree.
