TENTATIVE OPENING DAY LINEUP SET: The Indians announced several
roster moves this morning that would tentatively round out Cleveland’s final
Opening Day roster, as RHP JOSH TOMLIN is scheduled to be optioned
to Triple-A Columbus, while RHP CARLOS CARRASCO (rotation), RHP
BLAKE WOOD (bullpen) and RHP SCOTT ATCHISON (bullpen) have all
been informed that they will break camp on the Major League 25-man ros-
ter…barring unforeseen circumstances, Cleveland will carry 13 pitchers and
12 position players to start the year.

Opening day roster

SALAZAR TO START HOME OPENER: Indians MGR Terry Francona an-
nounced this morning that RHP DANNY SALAZAR would start Cleveland’s
home opener at Progressive Field on April 4 vs. Minnesota, the club’s fourth
game of the season…Salazar also start the most recent game played in
Cleveland, taking the bump against Tampa Bay in the 2013 A.L. Wild Card
Game.

GOODBYE TO GOODYEAR: This afternoon marks the Indians final Cac-
tus League HOME game of the spring here at Goodyear Ballpark…Cleve-
land will round out the club’s spring slate with 3 road games, squaring off
against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday in Scottsdale before flying
to San Diego for a pair of friendlies against the Padres at the University of
San Diego’s ballpark.

THE HOME STRETCH: The Indians won their 17th game of the spring on
Monday, matching the club’s 2013 Spring Training win total…with 4 games
remaining on the 2014 Cactus League schedule the Indians are now just
2 victories shy of matching their best exhibition season since re-joining the
Arizona Circuit in 2009…the Indians own a 8-6 record at Goodyear Ball-
park heading into today’s final home game of the spring…the Indians have
played 24 games in 24 days since Cleveland’s March 1 rainout at Camel-
back Ranch against Chicago-AL…Cleveland has won 5 of its last 9 games
as the club nears the season opener on March 31 in Oakland.

STRANGE BREW: The Indians will square off against the Milwaukee Brew-
ers for the second and final time this spring, both meetings taking place
here at Goodyear Ballpark…pitching was the story in the teams’ first meet-
ing on March 9 in Goodyear, as the Indians defeated the Brewers 4-2…
JOSH TOMLIN (4.0IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 5K) earned his first victory of the
spring…club’s met 3 times last spring, with the Indians winning 2 of those…
Cleveland and Milwaukee have not met in the regular season since the
Brewers swept a 3-game set at Progressive Field in June 2009 (Milwaukee
has won last 7 regular season tilts)…Cleveland is 201-205 all-time vs. the
Milwaukee franchise (1969-present) in regular season play, which includes
a 7-11 mark in Interleague Play since the Brewers made the switch to the
Senior Circuit.
