THE HOME STRETCH: Coming off of yesterday’s only true off day of the spring
schedule, the Indians have played 22 official games in 23 days since the start
of Cactus League play on Feb. 26, including 19 games over the last 19 days
since Cleveland’s March 1 rainout at Camelback Ranch against Chicago-AL…
that does not account for two scheduled “B” games vs. the White Sox and Angels
or the wide range of simulated/intrasquad/minor league scrimmages that have
taken place on the Goodyear backfields…the Tribe’s next off day is scheduled for
Sunday, March 30 in advance of club’s season opener in Oakland on March 31.
TAP THE ROCKIES: Cleveland will travel to Scottsdale to face off against
Colorado in the first of two back-to-back games against the Rockies…the Tribe
dropped their only game at Talking Stick in 2013 and are just 4-6 against Colo-
rado since joining the Cactus League in 2009…the Rockies will visit Progressive
Field for the first time since 2011 for a 3 game series from May 30-June 1…
Colorado is 10-8 all-time vs. Cleveland in regular season Interleague Play.
ROSTER REDUCTIONS: The Indians announced on Wednesday the club
optioned RHP PRESTON GUILMET, RHP FRANK HERRMANN, LHP COLT
HYNES & INF DAVID ADAMS to Triple-A Columbus…RHP DAVID AARDSMA
was granted his release today.
UPDATED ROSTER BREAKDOWN: With the most recent round of roster
moves announced Monday, the Indians now have a total of 41 players currently
in major league camp; this includes 14 non-roster invitees in addition to players
on the 40-man roster…the club now has 19 pitchers (4 non-roster), including 17
right-handers and 2 lefties, 4 catchers (2 non-roster), 11 infielders (5 non-roster)
and 7 outfielders (3 non-roster).
TV ON THE RADIO: Monday afternoon’s St. Patrick’s Day tilt with Cincinnati
was SportsTime Ohio’s final Cactus League broadcast of the spring, but fans
will still have the opportunity to watch the Indians in 3 additional spring training
games that will be carried by MLB Network on March 23 at Los Angeles-AL,
March 24 at Cincinnati and March 29 at San Diego.
