YESTERDAY’S RECAP: After plating the go-ahead run in the top half of the inning, Cleveland saw Cincinnati rally for a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 walk-off loss yesterday afternoon at Goodyear Ballpark…Cleveland trailed for much of the contest after Cincinnati plated 3 runs in the second inning, but got on the board when NICK SWISHER homered for the second time in as many days, pelting a lead-off solo shot to kick off the fourth…LONNIE CHISENHALL tripled and scored on a MIKE AVILES sac fly in the seventh, while minor league OF TYLER HOLT added an RBI-double later in the same frame…minor league C TONY WOLTERS broke a 3-3 tie in the ninth, following a pair of walks with his RBI-single…the Reds’ Steve Selsky delivered a walk-off, two-run single to end the game…COREY KLUBER made his 5th start of the spring and fanned 5 over 4.1 innings, while JOHN AXFORD, MARC RZEPCZYNSKI and JOSH OUTMAN all turned in 1.0 scoreless frame each.
INSTANT REPLAY: For the first time this spring, the Indians were involved in an instant replay situation when Reds skipper Bryan Price invoked his replay privileges and appealed umpire Allen Porter’s initial out call on Brandon Phillips attempted steal of third…in just over a minute, the call was reviewed and Phillips was called safe…Cleveland’s final instant replay trial opportunity of the spring will occur during the Indians final game against the Reds on March 24 at Goodyear Ballpark.
