City Royals today…is the first of 4 meetings against their Kauffman foes, which is the second-most against any opponent this spring (CIN-1st, 5)…Cleveland will play
Kansas City once more in Goodyear (March 14) and twice in Surprise (March 8 and
March 29)…the Tribe is 2-4-1 against the Royals in Cactus League play splitting last
year’s series 1-1…the Indians are 303-288 all-time against Kansas City, were 8-10
against Ned Yost’s squad last season and are slated to play the Royals 19 times over
the course of the 2013 campaign.
ATHLETIC TRAINER’S TABLE: OF MICHAEL BRANTLEY left yesterday’s game af-
ter lacerating his left forearm sliding into third base in the 3rd inning, received roughly
15 stitches at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix and is expected to be out of game
action at least 10 days…RHP JOE SMITH (left oblique strain) is scheduled to throw
live BP on Wednesday after bullpen sessions on Saturday and Monday…RHP JOSH
TOMLIN was placed on the 60-day DL (right elbow rehab) on February 15 to make
room for Bourn on the 40-man roster…RHP CHEN-CHANG LEE is 8 months post-
op, is progressing currently thru mound program and is hopeful of simulated game
activity in extended spring training…RHP BLAKE WOOD is 8 months post-op and
currently progressing thru a mound program; he is hopeful of simulated game activity
in extended ST…RHP CARLOS CARRASCO (right elbow reconstruction surgery in
September) is unrestricted.
