As the Cleveland Indians return to the field in anticipation of a big second half, the organization announced several fan-focused initiatives Friday relating to parking and concessions.

The Cleveland Indians have partnered with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, Ohio City Inc., and City of Cleveland to provide fans with a more convenient and affordable experience at Progressive Field.

Free Transportation Weekend will take place from July 20 to July 22. All fans that purchase game tickets in advance and use the password “parking” are eligible for free parking in the Gateway East Garage on a first come, first served basis. RTA will be providing free RTA Rail Service (blue, green, and red lines) and RTA HealthLine. Fans that park in Ohio City will have the option to take a free shuttle to and from the stadium. This shuttle will make stops at the corner of W. 25 and Market Ave., near Great Lakes Brewing Company and Bar Cento.

Upon conclusion of Free Transportation Weekend, RTA will announce a new Family Fare through the remainder of the 2012 season, which includes a round trip for up to two adults and four children for $10.00 during all weekend Indians home games. Fans taking advantage of this option must purchase Indians tickets in advance at the Indians Team Shop or online at Indians.com.

Indians Ohio City Shuttle and Great Lakes Brewing Company’s “Fatty Wagon” will each offer round trip service for $1.00 during all weekend Indians home games throughout the 2012 season.

The Cleveland Indians have also partnered with Delaware North Companies and provided fans with two Classic Combo Deals, including food and beverages at Progressive Field.

The Hot Dog Classic Combo Deal includes one Sugardale all-beef hot dog, one large popcorn, and one 16-oz. Pepsi product for just $8.00. The Brat Classic Combo Deal includes one brat and one 12-oz. beer for adults.

Be sure to take advantage of these offers throughout the remainder of the 2012 season and bring the family to Progressive Field as the Tribe chases the division title.

Not being critical of the Indians calling attention to this, the free transportation weekend is very nice. (I would definitely use RTA with that, and avoid the traffic and save gas money). They’re alreasy one of the more value-friendly teams in baseball, though, and that doesn’t seem to be helping that much. Shame, because it’s a great ballpark and the city has a lot of tradition.

Mark Shapiro and his regime continue to demonstrate that this is THE best fan-friendly franchise in all of MLB. Keep up the great work as we head into the playoffs!!!
Even without any major moves this team has enough to win the Central Division.
And please, no more “What if’s”. It’s time to “Be a Believer” and enjoy the ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Regis, and I think your slogan is better!

I hope season ticket holders with parking passes we paid for don’t get left out of the parking garage with your free give away.

Also, I saw a map come out today showing new one way traffic flow on Ontario at game time. I sure hope that is just for after the game; if not your forcing everyone into the stadium into new lanes on e. 9th – what a mess/bottleneck that will create!

Friday night 20th I left Avon ohio ar 5.30 got stuck on I 90 arrived on 9th st heading for the garage I have a pass and Tom Hamilton said it was in the fourth inning I went back home will not go to another game till the city gets its act together and does something with the traffic I feel sorry for the tribe I guess the city doesnt care.

That’s interesting Carole…I don’t live in Cleveland so I didn’t know that there were traffic problems there. I wonder if that’s part of the reason people aren’t showing up.
